How Financiar payouts work

Financiar processes same-currency payouts. You fund your account in your local currency and pay suppliers who hold the same currency. There is no FX conversion inside the platform. To pay a US supplier from a Nigerian account, both sides must settle in USD — or use a Financiar USD virtual card for the transaction.

How it works

A payment in four steps

The same flow applies whether you're in Lagos, London, or Los Angeles.

1

Fund your wallet

Transfer into your Financiar account via your local virtual account number (NG/GH) or Stripe (US/UK/EU/CA).

2

Create the payout

Enter recipient bank details, amount, and purpose. The fee is shown before you confirm — no surprises.

3

Maker-checker signs off

A second authoriser reviews and approves before the transfer is submitted to Paystack or Stripe.

4

Payout dispatched

Financiar submits to the rail immediately after approval. Timing depends on the corridor's standard settlement window.

What you get

One infrastructure across 20+ countries

The same account, the same approval flow, and the same audit trail — whether you're paying from Lagos, London, or Los Angeles.

African corridors via Paystack

Nigerian, Ghanaian, Rwandan, and South African businesses send payouts through Paystack's infrastructure. Nigerian and Ghanaian accounts include a dedicated virtual account number for local funding.

US, UK, Canada & EU via Stripe

Businesses in the US, UK, Canada, and 13 EU/EEA countries process payouts through Stripe. Fund by card or bank transfer. Every payout has a full audit trail with timestamps and approver record.

Maker-checker approval flow

Every payout above your threshold requires a second authoriser before it leaves. No single-point-of-failure on high-value transfers. Full log of who approved what and when.

Supported corridors

Every live corridor uses the same maker-checker approval workflow and AES-256-encrypted recipient data.

Questions about cross-border payments

Does Financiar convert currencies?

No. Financiar processes same-currency payouts only. Your account holds your local currency; you pay suppliers who receive the same currency. There is no FX conversion step inside the platform. To pay an international supplier who invoices in a different currency, the supplier must be able to receive the currency you hold, or you use your Financiar virtual card (USD/EUR/GBP) for the transaction.

Can I pay a supplier in a different currency?

If your supplier invoice is in USD and your supplier has a USD-receiving account, you can fund your Financiar USD balance and send a same-currency USD payout. Financiar does not convert between currencies on your behalf. For cross-currency transactions, use your Financiar virtual card where the supplier accepts USD, EUR, or GBP. See our pay international suppliers guide for practical examples.

How long do payouts take?

Processing time depends on the destination bank and the payment rail (Paystack or Stripe). Financiar submits payouts to the rail immediately after approval — we do not add hold periods beyond what the rail requires. Check Paystack and Stripe's documentation for corridor-specific timelines.

Is KYC required for every payout?

Yes. KYC verification is server-enforced on every account before any payout can be initiated. Nigerian businesses are verified instantly via BVN. All other markets complete verification within 24 hours. This is not optional — it is how the compliance requirement is built into the product.
