Delete your account in the app
- Open Financiar and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Legal & data → Delete my account.
- Optionally tell us why, then tap Request account deletion and confirm with your PIN.
You are signed out on every device straight away, and we email you to confirm we have received the request.
If you cannot use the app
Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my Financiar account" and the phone number you sign in with. We will confirm it is you before acting, and we never ask for your PIN or sign-in code.
What happens next
- We complete your request within 30 days and email you when it is done.
- Your profile, sign-in details, device registrations and notification settings are deleted, and your name, phone number and email are removed from the records we must keep.
- If you own a business on Financiar, deleting your account does not delete the business or its other members. We will contact you first about the business, its remaining balance and who should own it. Money in the business’s wallet is never forfeited.
What we must keep
Nigerian anti-money-laundering and tax law requires us to keep some records after an account closes:
| Record | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Transactions, payouts, bill purchases and wallet entries | At least 5 years after the transaction |
| Spend requests, approvals, attached evidence and the audit trail | At least 5 years after the transaction |
| Identity-verification results | 5 years after the business relationship ends |
These records are kept under a pseudonymous identifier, are used only to meet those obligations, and are deleted or irreversibly anonymised when the period ends. Read more in our privacy policy.
